BUHL — Cecilia Frances Steffens, 94, of Buhl, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013.
Cecilia was born April 8, 1919, to Henry and Mary Hadamek of George West, Texas. She was married to Lawrence Steffens, now deceased, on Sept. 20, 1938. In 1953, they moved with their six children from Hinton, Okla., to a farm northeast of Buhl, where they farmed until 1969 when they moved to their present home.
Cecilia most loved being surrounded by her children, her 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was a master domino player. Cecilia was very active in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; she was selected as Catholic Woman of the Year for the year 2000.
Cecilia is survived by two younger brothers, Daniel and John Hadamek who both live with their families in Texas; five of her six children and their spouses, Frances Graves of Gooding, Joseph Steffens of Hansen, Veronica Steffens of Buhl, Louis “Bud” Steffens of Mountain Home and Alice McLeroy of Buhl. Preceding Cecilia in death was her husband, Lawrence, and a son, Anthony “Toby.”
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Buhl.
