Violet (Smith) Eckermann Ramsour, 93, passed away in Blanco, TX, and entered her eternal home with her Lord and Savior on August 29, 2012. She was born on January 15, 1919 in San Antonio, Texas, to Austin Vivian Smith and Eula Nicholson Smith and was the youngest of 11 children. Vi married Walter Edwin Eckermann on September 19, 1935. They were married for 59 years until his death on July 30, 1995. They were blessed with 3 children, Elizabeth, Edwin and Sharon. Edwin passed away in 1960 and Sharon in 1944. Walter and Vi lived in San Antonio, then Boerne and finally in Kendalia when they retired in 1977, Walter from the post office and Vi from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Vi was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star for many years. After retirement Vi owned and operated an antique store in Blanco.
On November 29, 1996, Vi married Dr. H.B. Ramsour and they made their home at the Kendalia ranch. They enjoyed 15 years of marriage until H.B. was called home on May 29, 2011, at the age of 100.
Vi was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Blanco and loved being a part of the Blanco and Kendalia communities where she had many wonderful friends. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Betty and Bob Shapley of Houston; grandchildren, Alicia Williams and husband Allen (McKinney), Rob Shapley and wife Laird (Dallas), and Patricia De La Cruz and husband James(McKinney); great-grandchildren Abby and Alex Williams, Harrison Shapley, and Nathan, Andrew, Jacob, David and Caleb De La Cruz.
Visitation will be at Crofts Funeral Home, Blanco, Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Blanco on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 10:30 AM.
The graveside service will be 1:30 PM Tuesday in Kneupper Cemetery, Kendalia.
