Grandmother Lydia (Moeglein-Schaefer) Benke grew up in the Bulverde area and when she married, at age 15, she and Grandfather Adolph lived in the Helotes area. They did live in San Antonio proper for a few years but moved back to the country again where they bought a farm in the area of Hwy 90W, just outside present 1604 (Bexar County).
