      Alice Emma Buehring, age 96, of Karnes City passed away July 13, 2009 in Kenedy.
      She was born the late John Walter Schaefer and the late Hulda Tausch Schaefer on October 11, 1912 in Comal County. She married the late L.E. Buehring on March 12, 1938 in Karnes City. She worked as a cook at the school in Fashing, Texas and at John Paul II Nursing Home in Kenedy, Texas. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Karnes City, Texas and a member of Martin Luther Evangelical Church in Fashing, Texas. She was baptized on July 24, 1913 in New Braunfels, Texas and confirmed on May 24, 1926 in Fashing, Texas.
      She is survived by sons, Alton Buehring and his wife Lois of Corpus Christi, Texas and Leroy Buehring of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Carolyn Turner and her husband Joe of San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Calvin Schaefer of Central Point, Oregon and Warren Schaefer of Los Angeles, California; sister, Velma Cassinicos of Seattle, Washington; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Anita Brister, Norma Blanchard, and Lenora Lester; her brothers, Delma Schaefer, Eugene Schaefer, and John E. Schaefer; her infant brothers, Erhart Schaefer and Milton Schaefer; and her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Buehring.
      The family received visitors from 5-8 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2009 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City.
      A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2009 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Karnes City. Pastor David Collins III officiated. Interment followed the service in the New Bremen Cemetery.
      The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Karnes City.
