      ARTHUR (Art) LITTLETON FURLEY, 69, went to be with His Lord on January 16, 2002. He was born May 26, 1932, in Marble Falls, Texas and was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Littleton Furley and Sadie Pauline Partridge Furley. He was the devoted husband of Verlene and the beloved father of two daughters, Emily and husband, Danny Thompson, Elaine and husband, Cory Monrad, and a son, Ronald and wife, Jennifer Furley. He was the cherished grandfather (Pepa) of D.J., Theresa, and Kenneth Thompson, Elissa Monrad and twin baby Monrad boys eager to enter the world in March, and Caitlin Furley. He is survived by a brother, Walter Furley and wife, Patricia, two sisters, Emma Jean and husband, Robert Moseley, and Lillian and husband, Harry Tyrrasch, three nieces, two nephews, and numerous cousins. Art served four years in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired supervisor of the Federal Aviation Agency Flight Service Station in Conroe. Art will be dearly missed by his loving family, his neighbors of thirty years, golf buddies, and many friends. He enjoyed painting and wood-carving and was an avid golfer. He lived his life with friendliness and compassion and accepted his illness with courage and faith. He never met a stranger and was always eager to help others. He blessed his family and friends with goodness and kindness and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. Visitation is Sunday, January 20, 4-6 P.M. at Waltrip Funeral Home, and funeral services will be held Monday, 10:00 A.M., at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Rev. George Bement officiating and interment at Forest Park Westheimer. Pallbearers are Jim Sullivan, Carl Squires, Norman Brooks, Vernon Laiche, Dr. Alfred (Happy) Fluitt, and George Coffin. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, D.J. Thompson and Kenneth Jon Thompson. Memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Building Fund or American Cancer Society.
