George Frank Pawlik, 68, went home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2003. He was born February 10, 1935 in George West, TX, to the late Stanley and Justina Brysch Pawlik. George married Mary Evelyn Smith in George West on December 8, 1962. He was a member of St. George Catholic Church. George retired after 29 years of service with the Texas Department of Transportation. He was also a lifelong farmer and rancher. George was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Evelyn Pawlik of George West, TX; daughter, Catherine Ann Barbaro and her husband Daniel E. of Portland, TX; two grandsons, Sam Barbaro and Andrew Barbaro; two brothers, Leonard Pawlik and his wife Betty and Mitchell Pawlik and his wife Debby, all of George West, TX; three sisters, Aggie Lyssy and her husband Henry of San Antonio, TX, Grace McCann of Breckenridge, TX, and Gladys Stearns of New Braunfels, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., Thursday, October 16, 2003 with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. that evening at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West, TX. The family will also be present that evening from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 17, 2003 at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West, TX, with Father Peter Gajda and Rev. Don Jones officiating. Pallbearers include Dan Barbaro, Sam Barbaro, Andrew Barbaro, James Stanley Pawlik, Julian Perales and Wesley Jennings. Interment to follow at St. George Cemetery in George West, TX. Those who wish may make donations to the American Cancer Society.
