Alvin L. Gosch, 78, of Lockhart and formerly of Waelder, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000. He was born Sept. 28, 1921 in Cistern, TX, to the late Chalmers and Alma Brune Gosch.
He was a member of First-United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a man that loved people, telling his stories, his farming along with his cattle. He took great pride in his family business and visiting with their customers.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Steinhauser Gosch; daughter and son-in-law , Alice and Darrell Guinn of Lockhart; son and daughter-in-law, David and Cheri Gosch of Keller, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and James (Blank) Blankenship of Texas City, TX; five grandchildren, Kevin Guinn of San Marcos, Elizabeth, Caroline, Catherine and Christina Gosch all of Keller, TX.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, a sister, and three brothers.
Pallbearers were James Alvin Kuntschik, Clifford Blankenship, Dennis Gosch, Keneth Bartsch, Freddy Lee Maresh, and Gene Payne.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul Quintero, Oscar Melchor, Michael Cochran, David King and A.C. Steinhauser.
Visitation was held held (sic) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at McCurdy Funeral Home. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Duvall officiating. Burial followed at 4 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Flatonia under the direction of McCurdy Funeral Home, Lockhart.
