Notes - OBITUARY:
Richard J. Endres, 80, of Huntingdon died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Westminster Woods Retirement Center, The Oaks, in Huntingdon.
He was born May 1, 1917, in Huntingdon, a son of the late Edward Boston and Margaret Neary Endres.
On July 10, 1946, in Harrisburg, he married C. Ruth Brant who survives at home.
He was a 1934 graduate of Huntingdon High School and a 1938 graduate of Juniata College. He attended Jefferson Medical College and earned a master's degree in biology from Temple University.
He was an Army veteran, having served as a captain in the 357th engineering division under General Patton in the North African and Mediterranean Theater of Operations during World War II.
He was a partner in the family custom millworking firm, E.B. Endres, following the war. He retired in 1995 as president of Endres Wood-Plastics, Inc. in Huntingdon.
He was a member of Twelfth Street United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a member and past president and present Paul Harris Fellow of Huntingdon Rotary Club and a former member and past president of Huntingdon Area school board. He was a member of the board of directors of Huntingdon Savings Bank, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 976, Standing Stone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1754, Frank P. Hommon Post 24 American Legion, Huntingdon Business and Industry, and Huntingdon Country Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Jean Hyde of Toledo, Ohio; a son, Richard J. Jr. of Huntingdon; and a sister, Dorothy Endres Whittaker of Huntingdon.
Visitation will be after 7 p.m. today at John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Twelfth Street United Methodist Church, 12th and Mifflin Streets, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Tiffany M. Freeman officiating.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery; Huntingdon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Twelfth Street United Methodist Church, 12th and Mifflin Streets, Huntingdon, Pa. 16652.

Margaret Elda Neary Endres; Birth: Feb. 18, 1890, Saxton, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, USA; Death: May 11, 1970, Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, USA; Note: Mrs. Margaret N. Endres of 1030 Washington Street, Huntingdon died Monday, May 11, 1970 at 1:40 p.m. in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon where she had been admitted as a patient earlier in the day. She had been in failing health for several years. Born February 18, 1890, in Saxton, she was a daughter of Daniel and Mary (Figard) Neary. She was united in marriage to E.B. Endres on January 18, 1912 in the home of the groom at Huntingdon. He preceded her in death February 5, 1952. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Whittaker, Huntingdon and a son, Richard J. Endres, Huntingdon. Four grandchildren survive: Richard Endres, Jr. and Elizabeth J. Endres, both of Huntingdon; Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Esh, Belleville and Thomas R. Whittaker, Harrisburg. There are two great-grand; children: Elizabeth D. Esh and Kimberly J. Esh of Belleville. Two brothers survive: G.F. Neary and Earl E. Neary, both of Huntingdon. Four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. The deceased was a member of the Twelfth Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. She was a life member of Huntingdon Chapter No. 159, Order of Eastern Star; a charter member of the Juniata League and a member of the auxiliary to the Frank P. Hommon Post No. 24, American Legion of Huntingdon. She had been a resident of Huntingdon since 1910.
