      Horace J. Hines passed away on March 8, 2000. He resided at Camp Bandina, Bandera, TX. He retired from Bell Telephone Company in 1979 after 39 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Camp Bandina. He was a member of the Communication Workers Association Pioneer of San Antonio, Local No. 6143 and Alamo Life CWA Workers. Survivors include wife, Gladys Marie Hines; four daughters and their husbands, Roxana (John) Cobb of San Antonio, Martha McDuffie of San Antonio, Melanie (Walt) Mills of Dallas, TX and Debra (Ron) Dombrowski of Torrington, CT; seven stepchildren, Peggy (Lendal) Wilks, of Malawi, Africa, Louis (Janet) Winkler and Woody (Sue) Winkler, both of Houston, TX, Archie (Rita) Winkler of Grand Prairie, TX, Valerie (Barry) Fuhrken of Bishop, TX, Jackie Winkler of Corpus Christi, TX and Janet Winkler of Alice, TX; sister, Ophelia (Gaston) Thurmond of Gonzales, TX; also 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M., in the Oak Hills Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. in the Oak Hills Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Ray Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 8115 Datapoint Dr., San Antonio, TX 78229, or the Namikamgo Mission, Box 737, South Houston, TX 77587 or to the charity of one's choice.
