Notes - BIOGRAPHY: Benito was a cartman in the 1850's and met his future wife while transporting the Opiela family from Indianola to panna Maria. Benito Lopez receieved a land grant from the state of Texas as a citizen of the Republic of Texas prior to his marriage to Carolina. He was in business in San Antonio in the 1860's, and later in Floresville. He had a pawn shop and general store which had merchandise ranging from a can of sardines to ladies' boots from Italy. He was the owner of the first two story brick building in Floresville.
