Dorothea Schumaker Schoenfield; Birth: Dec. 23, 1879, Sublime, Lavaca County, Texas, USA; Death: Nov. 25, 1922, New Taiton, Wharton County, Texas, USA; Note: Dorothea Schumaker was born on 23 December 1879 in Sublime, Lavaca County, Texas. She was a daughter of August Charles Schumaker and Magdalena Pelzer. Although her parents had five children, only Dorothea and her brother Charles August survived into adulthood. Two Schoenfeld siblings married two Schumaker; siblings: Dorothea married Paul Herman Schoenfield, the son of Johann Gottlieb Schoenfeld and Mathilde Michling Schoenfeld, in the Sublime Zion Lutheran Church in 1898. The following year, Dorothea's brother, Charles August Schumaker, married Paul's sister, Wilhelmina "Minnie" Schoenfield. (About 1912, the surname of "Schoenfeld" acquired an "i" and became "Schoenfield."), Dorothea and Paul were the parents of five; children: Olga, Clarence, twins Leo and Leonard, and Alvin. About 1912, the family moved to Taiton in Wharton County, Texas where they continued to be engaged in farming and ranching. On 25 November 1922, tragedy struck the family when Dorothea died from a stroke. She was only 42 years of age. ~ by Linda Wiesner, g-granddaughter; Parents: August Charles Schumaker (1851 - 1932), Magdalena Helina Pelzer Schumaker (1857 - 1917); Spouse: Paul Herman Schoenfield (1877 - 1951); Children: Olga Matilda Schoenfield Bodungen (1899 - 1951) *, Clarence Schoenfield (1900 - 1952) *, Leonard Schoenfield (1902 - 1972) *, Leo William Schoenfield (1902 - 1959) *; Sibling: Charles August Schumaker (1877 - 1945) *, Dorothea Schumaker Schoenfield (1879 - 1922), [* = Calculated relationship]; Burial: Garden of Memories, El Campo, Wharton County, Texas, USA, Plot: -; Maintained by: Linda Wiesner; Originally Created by: John Boyd; Record added: Nov 27, 2009; Find A Grave Memorial# 44841326. - [S940] Find A Grave, 15 May 2016; http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=106180034.
