      Vivian J. Ott went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 21, 2017 at her home at the age of 86.
      She was born to August and Hilda Voigt Zimmermann on December 23, 1930 in New Braunfels.
      Vivian was raised on a dairy farm on Morningside Dr. which was “in the country” at the time. Vivian graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1948. During high school she worked at the bus station. After graduation, she worked for Dr. John Schaefer and then Dr. Harold Fischer.
      Vivian met Edwin L. Ott while working in the library during high school. He had to get permission from her to visit his sister. After dates at the Brauntex, Gruene Hall, Echo Hall, Luxello and the Capital Theater they married on April 10, 1952.
      Vivian worked at the Textile Mill until she had her first child. She then worked at Farm and Ranch, Producers Co-Op, and finally at First Federal Savings and Loan for 21 years retiring as Assistant Treasurer in 1990.
      Vivian loved to garden, her flowers, traveling, playing cards and dominoes, and especially bowling. She bowled 9 pin at Solms Bowling Club from 1944 until she had to quit because of her health in August of 2005, which broke her heart. Vivian also loved to paint; benches, swings, walls, porches, and basically anything that did not move. At Christmas she loved baking cookies with her family. Vivian kept a log every year of how many dozen, what kind of cookies, and who helped her bake each kind. It was not unusual for her to bake over 1,000 cookies and share them with family and friends.
      She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin L. Ott in 1977, her sister Dorothy, and two brothers Cleburn and Lawrence Buddy Zimmermann.
      Survivors include daughters Linda Printy and Michael Sanderford, Betty Gibson and Shane Salmon, and son David and Melissa Ott. Grandchildren Michael Printy, Barbara Beck, Beverly Wollenzin, Martin Wollenzin and Dylan Ott. Great grandchildren Jarret, Javen, Jayce and Joslyn. Sisters-in law Joyce Folks and Adeline Schmidt and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
      A huge thank you to her very good friend Dorothy Seidel for the countless hours she spent with Mom and to Hope Hospice.
      Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 25th at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels from 4 to 8 PM with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 PM. Services will be on Wednesday, April 26th at 10 AM at Grace Church on FM 725. A funeral procession will follow for interment at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
      Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice NB, Grace Church, or a charity of one’s choice.
