    8. [S990] Obituary of Lawrence Buddy Zimmermann, [Voigt p. 197].
Lawrence Buddy Zimmermann, 82 of New Braunfels (and Waelder) moved peacefully to the big ranch in the sky on February 24, 2016. Buddy was born on February 10th 1934 on his parents farm in the Solms area along the Camino Real to August and Hilda (nee Voigt) Zimmermann. Buddy graduated from New Braunfels H.S. in 1951. Buddy was a widower preceded in death by his wife Lorraine. Buddy was an Honorably Discharged USAF Veteran before returning to the family farm, working with his parents in the dairy business before starting his own farm in 1965, where Buddy raised hogs, chickens, cattle, sheep and did custom baling. In addition to the farming work he did, Buddy also worked in building materials sales for both Wicks and later Sears, and as an equipment operator for Parker Bros., before starting a Handy Man business. Buddy was creative and resourceful; he enjoyed working with his hands and loved building things and tinkering, whether with wood work or in metal, though as a farmer, a good deal of his tinkering was in equipment repair! Farming traditions were important to Buddy and he passed this knowledge along to his children and grand children, and in particular to his son in law Joe Alan Kindred. As Buddy often said, “I taught him everything he knows, and he still don’t know nothin’.” Buddy also loved his family’s annual sausage and pannas making, taking an active role that moved more to a supervisory (more salt! more red pepper! That pannas needs more sausage meat!) position that continued to this year. Buddy is survived by his daughter, Crystal Zimmermann Kindred, and husband Joe Alan; stepchildren Joseph Kohn and his wife Evelyn; and Holly Costello. Grandpa Buddy leaves behind three grandchildren, Justin Hoegenauer, Robert McKinnis, and Danielle Kindred Longoria and husband Alfred Longoria. Grandpa Buddy has three great grandchildren whose antics brought him pleasure; Rhylie McKinnis, Ethan Hoegenauer, and Jaden Kindred Longoria. Buddy is also survived by his dear sister Vivian Ott, as well as several neices and nephews. Buddy had a big heart and leaves behind many friends; he held a special place in his heart for Mark Luensman as well as for Ron Wetz, whom he loved as a son.

Buddy loved a good story, bad jokes, a good game of 42, and a cold beer. The family would be honored by your presence in sharing some of these things during a celebration of Buddy’s life to be held from 12 -3 on Saturday, 3/26/16, at Buddy’s home on Ron Road. All who know him are invited to attend.

Buddy was a kind and generous man. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, simply practice kindness and generosity for someone in need.
