Woman Killed In Possible Drunken Driving Crash Near New Braunfels
A woman was killed Sunday night after the truck she was riding in struck a flatbed tow truck near New Braunfels. The deadly crash happened just before 11 p.m. in the 4900 block of the Interstate 35 South frontage road. The New Braunfels Police Department said a 51-year-old man was driving a 2006 Ford F-350 when he struck the back of the tow truck, killing his passenger 57-year-old Betty Gibson. The driver of the truck was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Police said he is being investigated for intoxication manslaughter charges after officials say the investigation indicated that alcohol was a factor. The crash is still being investigated by the New Braunfels Police Department Traffic Unit and Criminal Investigations Divisions. - [S1012] Obituary of Betty Jean Gibson, [Voigt p. 219].
