344 | Sheldon got "religion" after his divorce from his 2nd wife, Sally, and met his third wife, Violet, in church. He lived in Austin for amny years and then moved to Killeen, Texas, where they had a little ranch. Sheldon lied to join the Army at age 17, was wounded in France when the troop train he was riding in was bombed. He had a steel plate in his leg from that. 345 | Some time after the death of his father, Fritz left Germany and found himself in Industry, Texas. He later returned to Germany for his mother, brothers, and sisters. They returned with him to Industry. In 1916 Fritz moved to Miles, Texas to farm. OBITUARY: Funeral services for Fritz Straach, 81, ex-farmer in the Miles area, will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the Miles Methodist Church with interment in Miles Cemetery following. Mr. Staach, who had been bedfast for seven weeks and totally blind for about eight years, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Henry Stock, in Menard Monday. Born in Anhalt, Germany, April 4, 1866, Mr. Straach came to the United States as a youth of 19 and landed at Galveston. He settled first at Industry in Austin County, where he lived for some time. He and his family came to West Texas from Fayetteville Sept. 28, 1909, settling in Concho County near Lowake. They moved to Runnels County, near Miles. in 1914 and Mr. Straach lived there until blindness forced him to retire from farming some eight years ago. He had lived with his daughter since. His wife died in July, 1935. Survivors include the daughter; one son, Herbert Straach of San Angelo; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will include: Edgar Straach, Charlie Straach, Otto Finck, Ewald Straach, and Walter and Alfred Kiesling. Honorary pallbearers include: Ernest Kiesling, Gus Zuelke, Fred Saling, Ed Heinze, Charley Steinfield, Ben Moore, O. L. West, Judge Bigler, B. A. Lott, and E. D Kleine. | Straach, Fritz (I1612)
